Cool weather is fast approaching and we’re reminded here at the Chamber that the holiday season will soon be upon us!  With that brings hectic schedules and an increase in activity for many of the Chamber’s member businesses!

Chamber Team Property Tour: 
Zotos Intarnational
In October the Chamber staff and members of the board of directors went on the road to visit one of the area’s longstanding businesses- Zotos International.  The group had the opportunity to participate in a behind the scenes tour and educational overview meeting about the company’s history and current projects with their management team.
Thanks again to our friends Doug, Mary, and Terry from Zotos International for a behind the scenes look into what this incredible world-wide company does right here in Geneva!

#TeamGENEVA Updates
Chamber Partnership with HWS 
Service Learning Program 
The #TeamGENEVA community collaboration between the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce and Hobart and William Smith Colleges is well underway!  For the fall semester, students participating in the Colleges’ Service Learning Program have been connecting with various Chamber members to learn more about the industries, businesses and individuals that make up the Geneva community. The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has expanded its ongoing #TeamGENEVA community collaborations and will be working with students from Hobart and William Smith Colleges for the fall semester. The partnership will feature  the Chamber as one of the official local businesses that has been designated as a host site location for the College’s Service Learning Program.  In addition to their  campus classes, students participating in the program will be placed at host locations where they will gain further experience outside of the classroom.
As a host location, the Geneva Chamber has developed a Membership Outreach and Chamber Services project that students will be participating in.  The project will offer a better understanding of chamber programming and will focus on member business awareness.
Students will assist with 
Membership Outreach through 
“Community Caseloads”
Over the next 10 weeks, students will be contacting various Chamber members that they have been assigned to for this project within their individual “Community Caseloads.”
If you are one of the selected member businesses that is included in a student’s Community Caseload, here are few main highlights of the program that you can expect:
  • Students have been instructed to reach out and introduce themselves with the goal of learning more about each business as well as the respective industry overall.  Students will be looking for general information to build their caseload study, and asking questions that will help to discover similarities with what businesses may have in common, as well as what differs between their individual businesses.
  • While building new connections and relationships that will offer a greater understanding of local businesses and the surrounding Geneva community, this program also enables students to delve into different components outside of their classroom studies.  Students can expect to gain real-life experience and a deeper awareness across various industries that the Chamber represents, while also becoming more familiar with the Chamber of Commerce and its programs and services.
  • As students will be communicating with members, they will also assess which Chamber programs or services may be the most beneficial for their individual businesses.  Students will report back on their facts, findings and discoveries within their Community Caseloads, and will close out their project with a written Caseload Feature that may be included in the Chamber’s E-Connection Member and Partner Newsletter.
The Chamber staff would like to thank members in advance for their time, attention and any resources that they can provide to support the students that will be participating in this program.

Business After Hours News
The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce would like to say thank you to the entire Bank of the Finger Lakes team for hosting the October BAH Mixer!
The event featured remarks from Michael Scaglione, who shared some about the bank’s history and place in the Geneva community.  Attendees enjoyed complimentary hors d’oeurvres from area businesses and a variety of door prizes provided by Bank of the Finger Lakes.

Upcoming Member Event:
The Geneva Business Improvement District will be holding their 22nd Annual Light Up Geneva Auction on Thursday, November 10th from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at the Lyons National Bank Operations Center at 470 Exchange Street in Downtown Geneva.
This yearly fundraiser helps support the BID’s holiday lighting efforts around the City.  Among the items purchased with money raised were the bistro lights above Linden Street, as well as two wreathes and garland which will be debuted this year for the Holiday Season.
The Light Up Geneva Auction will begin at 5:00 pm with the silent auction.  The live auction, provided by Hessney Auction Company, will start at 7:00 pm.  Admission to the event is free.

The ice skating season is officially open at the Geneva Recreation Department!  Visit for more information on the Rec’s public skate hours and more!
The City of Geneva has also begun its 2016 Fall Yard Debris Removal Program.  The City will provide a limited amount of leaf bags for residents, which can be picked up at  City Hall during normal business house.  For more information on this and other City programs, visit
