The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce has formed a partnership with Anderson-VanHorne (AVH) and KAFL Benefit Resources. This collaboration was formed to provide health insurance and related HR services to our chamber members. Glossary of Terms
EPO- Exclusive Provider Organization. Simply put, these types of plans do not require you to have a primary care physician or to obtain a referral for a specialist appointment. These plans also offer a nation wide network of health care providers. You would be covered anywhere in an emergency situation.
HMO- Health Maintenance Organization. These types of plans require that you have a primary care physician and you need a referral for some specialists. The network is limited to this region, however you would be covered anywhere in an emergency situation.
Sole Proprietor - Is a business owner with no employees. IRS and health insurance definitions are not the same. Sole Proprietors can and are charged up to an additional 20% for health insurance by the insurance companies.
Small Employee Group - A small employee group is a group of 2 or more employees. This does include a sole proprietor (IRS definition) with 1 or more employees. Can be a partnership or a corporation also.
PCP - Primary Care Physician. Members of HMO's are required to have a PCP.
